ALMATY. June 16. KAZINFORM According to Vremya newspaper, construction of Almaty Metropolitan has been put into jeopardy once again. The tunellers refuse to finish up the second phase of the first line of Almaty Metropolitan.

The same situations occurred in August 2007 and April 2009 during construction of the first phase of the project. The Metropolitan's administration stopped paying salaries to people working on the project on a timely basis. It seems the situation repeats itself.

"We have written an open letter to the administration and our trade union," one the workers Yevgeny Kazimov says. "The letter contains our claims. For instance, akimat (administration of the city) boasts that KZT 12 billion has been allotted for construction of the second phase of the project. But our salaries are constantly delayed. The administration insists it has no money."
