KAZINFORM "About 25 billion tons of wastes have been accumulated at Kazakhstan's enterprisers," Kazakh Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov told the Governmental Hour in the Majilis. "Air emissions from industrial facilities are above 3 billion tons a year, 85% of them accounts for 42 large enterprisers," N. Kapparov informed. According to the Kazakh Environment Minister, emissions to bodies of water are 2.8 million tons. About 56 million tons of municipal solid waste is produced every year. And only 5% is recycled. However, N.Kapparov noted that new technologies allow to produce building materials, fertilizers, thermal and electric energy from wastes. The Minister suggested to review tariffs and waste management system, create conditions for attracting investments to waste reducing and recycling sector. |
