MINSK. February 1. KAZINFORM The Single Economic Space (SES) is an important instrument of raising the competitiveness of economies of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Anatoly Smirnov said in Minsk on 31 January at a regular session of the council of permanent representatives of the CIS member states to the charter bodies and other bodies of the Commonwealth, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Kazakhstan.

Anatoly Smirnov told the attendees about the message of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the people of Kazakhstan. The major thesis of the message was "socioeconomic modernization is a major development vector of Kazakhstan".

The Kazakh ambassador noted that each message of the President of Kazakhstan has strategic importance. Nursultan Nazarbayev outlined ten priorities, most of which deal with social issues and are designed to improve the living standards and well-being of the people of Kazakhstan. This recent message offers a concrete action plan aimed at socioeconomic modernization of the country. The Kazakh leader offered a new program which aims to protect the national interests from the global crisis.

The diplomat believes that the implementation of the projects outlined by the President of Kazakhstan will give a powerful impetus to the development of the country and its regions.

Anatoly Smirnov noted that Kazakhstan together with Russia and Belarus established the Single Economic Space and is working towards the Eurasian Economic Union, which is an important factor of the stability in the region and economic competitiveness of the economies of the participating states.
