MAKHACHKALA. October 9. KAZINFORM An important warlord, the so-called amir of the Makhachkala jamaat, Gadjimurad Kamalutdinov, has been killed in the course of a special security operation in the village of Kirovaul, Kizilyurt district of the North Caucasian region of Dagestan, Kazinform refers to Ita-Tass.
Kamalutdinov's wife was killed together with him, public relations officials at the Dagestani branch of the Russian Federal Security Service FSB told Itar-Tass.
The active phase of the operation lasted more than two hours, in the course of which the legal status of the antiterrorist operation was imposed on Kirovaul.
Kamalutdinov and a grouping of saboteurs he presided over was involved in a range of attempts on the lives law enforcement officers and in terrorist crimes.
He was a nephew of the ideologist of Dagestani extremists, Bagautdin Magomedov, placed on the international wanted list in 1999.
